A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck the sea area southwest of the Greek island of Zakynthos on Tuesday afternoon, according to seismological authorities.

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake struck the sea area southwest of the Greek island of Zakynthos on Tuesday afternoon, according to seismological authorities.

Data from the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory of Athens showed that the epicenter was located approximately 85 kilometers southwest of Agios Leon on Zakynthos. The focal depth of the quake was estimated at 9.2 kilometers.

The tremor was felt in parts of Zakynthos, the neighboring island of Kefalonia and western regions of the Peloponnese. There were no immediate reports of injuries or material damage.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
