Muslim Turks living in Western Thrace experienced the joy of the Friday prayer after a 9-week break on Friday, May 22nd.
As in the rest of the world, places of worship remained closed for a long time due to the coronavirus in Greece. As a result of the strict measures implemented in Greece, as in many areas, places of worship started to be opened by following some rules. On Sunday, May 17, all places of worship in Greece opened their doors. Muslim Turks living in Western Thrace also enjoyed the Friday prayer after 9 weeks on Friday, May 22.
Western Thrace Muslim Turks experienced the joy of performing Friday prayers after 9 weeks, while the precautions were observed to be fully respected. It was observed that older people and children did not attend the Friday prayer. It was seen that those who came to the mosque obeyed the necessary distance rules, brought the prayer rugs from their home and put on a mask.
The religious officials and trustees made their final warning for the Eıd al-Fitr prayer to be held on Sunday, May 24 and thanked the community for their sensitivity. It is expected that the Eıd al-Fitr prayer will be performed in Western Thrace without compromising the rules.
