Vice Governor of Kavala in the European Committee of the Regions
It was announced by the government that the composition of the Greek delegation to the European Committee of the Regions for the period 2025-2030 has been finalized. From the Region of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, the only participant from both levels of local government is Theodoros Markopoulos, the Vice Governor of Kavala.
In fact, Mr. Markopoulos is the only Vice Governor in Greece who will participate in this specific body of the European Union's Regions.
Expressing his gratitude for his selection, Markopoulos thanked Minister of Interior Theodoros Livanios and Regional Governor of Eastern Macedonia & Thrace, Christodoulos Toptsidis. He described this development as "a springboard for new efforts and claims for our country, for regional administration, and especially for the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace." He emphasized that "for the administration of our region, the European Union is not only a source of funding but also a decisive developmental constant in an ever-changing world."
