Very high temperatures and Saharan dust in Greece on Tuesday

The atmospheric circulation over Europe, according to the National Observatory of Athens/meteo.gr, will favour the transfer of warm air masses from Africa to the Balkans and Greece, resulting in very high temperatures and the transfer of significant amounts of Saharan dust on Tuesday.

The temperature at the level of 850 hPa (about 1,500 meters above sea level) on Monday at noon in the Balkans will be 12-13 degrees centrigrade higher than normal for this time of year, while in Greece it will be 10-11 degrees higher than normal.

The maximum surface temperature depends on many factors, such as cloud coverage and wind combined with topography, so according to current data, the maximum surface temperatures will be very high for the season, with maximum temperatures reaching 30-31 degrees Celsius in central parts of the country.
