Turkish murder suspect arrested in Thessaloniki on Interpol warrant

A 44-year-old Turkish national wanted for murder in Turkiye has been arrested in Thessaloniki, northern Greece, on an international warrant issued by Interpol, Greek authorities say.
The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday afternoon in the Menemeni area by officers from the Thessaloniki Police Department’s fugitive tracking unit.
According to the Interpol warrant, the man is accused of fatally shooting a nightclub bouncer in Izmir, western Turkiye, in August 2023, following a dispute when he and his group were denied entry to the venue. During the altercation, he allegedly injured another person.
Turkish judicial documents list several charges against him, including murder, attempted murder, causing bodily harm, property damage, and illegal possession of a firearm.
The suspect has been brought before the Thessaloniki Court of Appeals Prosecutor’s Office, where extradition proceedings to Turkiye are now underway.
