SYRIZA Party members to elect new leader, Rhodope MP announces
After the unexpected heavy defeat against the ruling New Democracy Party in the last general elections in Greece, Alexis Tsipras, President of the Radical Left Alliance - SYRIZA Party, resigned from his post.
After this resignation, party members will go to the polls on Sunday, 17 September 2023 to determine the new chairman of the party.
Ballot boxes will be set up in the province of Rhodope to determine the leader of SYRIZA. In 6 different regions, party members will be able to cast their votes starting from 08.00 in the morning until 20.00 in the evening.
The polling stations in the Rhodope region will be in the villages of Bekirli, Yassıköy, Çepelli, Kozlukebir, the town of Şapçı and the centre of Komotini.
Regarding the elections to be held for the SYRIZA President, Özgür Ferhat, who was elected as an MP from the province of Rodopi with the strong support of the people, which enabled the party to come first only in the province of Rodopi in the last general elections, called on the party members to vote in the presidential election to be held on Sunday.
Deputy Ferhat made a statement on social media regarding the elections and invited members to vote.
