SYRIZA calls on Min Georgiadis to explain stance after reports of being surveilled in 2021

The main opposition party cited Reporters United as saying that Georgiadis had been a victim of wiretapping through his cellphone 11 times during 2021, when he was development minister. "Mr Georgiadis was informed by the Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy (ADAE), but strangely enough, never took legal action," the party said, adding that the minister moreover stated "there is no scandal."

SYRIZA questioned the minister's stance, asking, "As he held a very high public position, if he did not feel an obligation to protect himself, shouldn't he at least be obligated to protect his position?"

Kasselakis: Adonis Georgiadis believed he would go for a morning show in the Dodecanese hospitals

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Stefanos Kasselakis commented on a tour of the islands undertaken by Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis in a social media post on Thursday, saying: "The nautical Waterloo he is experiencing daily is a result of his policy. It is entirely his own doing."

Kasselakis was referring to a round of visits made by Georgiadis to healthcare facilities on the Aegean islands.

"June 2023. May 2024.  For two consecutive years I toured the islands of the Aegean and saw at close hand the huge problems of the National Health System, the abandonment, the lack of infrastructure, the  understaffing, the immense efforts of doctors and nurses fighting alone, without the help of the state," Kasselakis said in his post, adding: "Adonis Georgiadis believed he would go the the Dodecanese for a morning show in the hospitals and afterwards for sunbathing. He was not aware of the rage that exists."
