New state-funded travel vouchers up to €200 for holidays in Thessaly and Meriç
A new government subsidy program, the Thessaly & Meriç Pass 2025, has been launched to boost tourism in regions affected by recent natural disasters. The initiative will offer digital vouchers worth up to €200 for use during holidays in selected areas of Thessaly and Meriç.
The program is being implemented under Joint Ministerial Decision 42364 (Government Gazette B’ 3765/16.07.2025) and will unfold in three phases throughout the year.
The official application platform — vouchers.gov.gr — will open on Wednesday, July 23. Eligible recipients will receive a digital card, which can be used exclusively for tourism-related expenses during their designated vacation period.
Who Is Eligible and What’s Offered?
The value of the travel vouchers varies by region:
- Thessaly Pass A 2025 – €150 for holidays in specific areas of Thessaly
- Thessaly Pass B 2025 – €150 for other eligible areas in Thessaly
- Meriç Pass 2025 – €200 for holidays in designated areas of Meriç
The division between Thessaly Pass A and B is intended to ensure equitable geographic distribution of funds and promote balanced tourism development.
Program Timeline: Three Vacation Phases
Eligible participants must choose their preferred travel period during the application process. The program will be rolled out in three separate phases:
- Phase 1: July – August 2025
- Phase 2: September – October 2025
- Phase 3: November – December 2025
This new initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to revitalize local economies, particularly in areas impacted by floods and wildfires in recent years.
