MEP Nikolas Farantouris said on Wednesday he will not relinquish his seat in the European Parliament following his expulsion from SYRIZA’s parliamentary group.
“I will continue my work in the European Parliament uninterrupted. I answer only to the thousands of citizens who honored me with their vote. My seat belongs to them,” Farantouris said in a statement, adding that he remains committed to justice, transparency, and equality.
Farantouris criticized SYRIZA for moving away from grassroots movements and for opposing citizen mobilization. He said he will continue to engage with constituents across Greece and Europe, citing his two-year political motto: “Justice everywhere.”
