Katerina Notopoulou joins Tsipras-aligned political formation as MP Milto Zambaras prepares to resign
Greek politicians Katerina Notopoulou and Milto Zambaras, both elected to parliament on the SYRIZA ticket in 2023, are making separate political moves, according to Greek news outlet Efimerida ton Syntakton (Efsyn).
Notopoulou has reportedly joined the political formation associated with former prime minister Alexis Tsipras by registering through its online platform. She previously surrendered her parliamentary seat to SYRIZA in July.
Meanwhile, Zambaras is expected to submit his resignation letter to the president of the Hellenic Parliament on Thursday, October 29, according to Efsyn. He had already left SYRIZA in July to become an independent MP.
SUCCESSION TO ZAMBARAS' SEAT
Following his resignation, Zambaras is expected to be succeeded by Giorgos Varemenos. Grigoris Theodorakis, the next candidate on the list and a member of the political formation, is reportedly expected to decline the seat.
The developments mark another shift among politicians originally elected under SYRIZA's banner in the 2023 parliamentary elections, as Greece's opposition political landscape continues to evolve.
