On Thursday 16 November, President Metios issued a restraining order, which will remain in effect until further notice.

The use of water has been banned due to microbes detected in the drinking water tanks and water networks in the Glikadi area of Thassos Island, which endanger human health.

The banning order signed by Metios also reminds the Water and Sewerage Department of the Municipality of Thassos to take urgent measures.

It was stated that the ban on the use of drinking water for the protection of human health may be lifted as a result of interventions and analyses to be made in water tanks and water networks.

The banning order also emphasised that the municipality of Thassos must urgently start work to solve the problem.

It was stated that the ban will be lifted if the cleaning works are completed in accordance with the law and a CLEAN report is obtained from the analyses to be made.
