Greece braces for sharp temperature swings in the coming days
Greece is set to experience highly changeable weather in the coming days, with temperatures fluctuating sharply—ranging from near-freezing levels to as high as 20°C in some areas within 48 hours—according to forecasts.
Meteorologists say the pattern, marked by rapid rises and falls in temperature, will become more pronounced over the weekend and into next week, though conditions will remain generally mild for the season.
In Attica and Athens, daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 15°C and 18°C, with sunshine or thin cloud cover and limited rainfall. Nighttime temperatures will remain relatively high, at around 8–10°C. Similar conditions are forecast in much of central Greece, while northern mainland areas are not expected to see temperatures drop below -10°C.
Overall, weather across the country will alternate between sunny spells and cloudiness, with rain mainly affecting western regions, the north and parts of the eastern Aegean. Strong southerly winds are forecast over the seas, while temperatures are expected to rise further toward Epiphany on Tuesday, particularly in southern areas.
