15-year-old girl dies in car crash
A 15-year-old girl who was killed in a car crash in Laconia on Sunday was driving the vehicle when it drove off a bridge and into a river, police have said.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon near Leimona, in Laconia regional unit.
Police said the pickup truck, containing the teenage girl, her 53-year-old father and her 49-year-old mother, veered off the bridge and plunged into the Vasilopotamos River, where it overturned and sank.
Emergency responders, including firefighters, police and an ambulance, attended the scene.
According to ERT, the girl was removed from the vehicle 40 minutes later in an unresponsive state from the vehicle and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
Her parents managed to free themselves from the car with minor injuries.
