Free accomodation in Athens for residents of Greek islands hurt by the earthquakes

The Municipality of Athens, in collaboration with the non-profit organization Airbnb.org, founded by Airbnb, will provide housing to residents of Santorini, Amorgos, Anafi and Ios, who are seeking temporary accommodation in Athens due to the intense seismic activity on their islands.

As announced by the municipal authority, interested parties should call the emergency number 1595 (charges vary by provider). The municipality will collect requests for temporary accommodation, provide them with information about the emergency accommodation process and help them find accommodation through Airbnb.org.

The stays are completely free and funded by Airbnb.org and its supporters.

They apply exclusively to bookings made through this specific process and do not cover costs from bookings made independently by those affected.

Eligible families will receive an email from Airbnb.org regarding their housing credits and can use them to book free stays, initially for ten days, in available Airbnb accommodations.
