Flu activity remains high, despite slight decline
Influenza activity remains elevated in Greece despite a slight decrease in cases, according to the latest respiratory infection surveillance report from the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
Health authorities recorded nine new laboratory-confirmed flu-related deaths and 13 intensive care admissions last week. Since October 2025, the total number of deaths has reached 45, with 121 patients admitted to intensive care units.
Deputy Health Minister Marios Themistocleous said the situation remains “controlled” and does not warrant public alarm. Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis warned, however, that a resurgence of cases is expected later this month.
Authorities continue to urge vaccination among high-risk groups, noting that vaccines and antiviral treatments are widely available. Coronavirus activity remains moderate, while cases of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) have shown a recent increase.
