Fines for uninsured vehicles, unpaid road taxes, and delayed KTEO inspections set to be imposed
These checks will occur every six months, aiming to identify vehicle owners who fail to meet their legal obligations. Fines for violations will range from €250 to €1,000, depending on the nature of the infraction.
The fines for uninsured vehicles will vary based on the type of vehicle. Specifically, public buses and trucks face fines of €1,000, while private car owners will be fined €500. Motorcyclists will face the lowest fine, set at €250.
For instance, a private car owner who has not insured their vehicle will be required to pay a fine of €500. If the vehicle is not insured immediately, the fine will double to €1,000, and the vehicle's license plates and registration will be confiscated until insurance is obtained.
Unpaid Road Taxes
For vehicle owners with unpaid road taxes, the fine will be equal to the outstanding tax amount plus an additional annual tax fee. This means that individuals with unpaid taxes will be required to pay both the amount owed and the corresponding penalty.
For example, if a vehicle owner owes €300 for the 2023 road tax, they will need to pay €300 plus an additional €300 penalty, bringing the total to €600.
Vehicles Without KTEO Certification
Vehicles that have not undergone the required KTEO inspection will face a fine of €400, regardless of the vehicle’s condition.
For example, if a vehicle owner fails to present their car for inspection within the designated time and the delay exceeds three months, they will be fined €400. If the vehicle continues to be used without passing the roadworthiness test, the fine will double, and the license plates will be confiscated.
These measures aim to ensure vehicle owners comply with legal requirements and to promote road safety.
