Farmers to protest at Kipi border crossing this evening
Farmers, who have been protesting against the government's agricultural policy for nearly a month, will block the border crossing between Greece and Turkey this evening.
National media reported that farmers will organise a road blockage at the Kipi border crossing today from 17.00-21.00 local time (18.00-22.00 GMT) to increase pressure on the government.
It was reported that the farmers would close the border only to lorries, while cars and buses would be allowed to pass.
Demonstration in Athens tomorrow
After a meeting with Prime Minister Kiryakos Mitsotakis, the farmers stated that all their demands were not met and are planning to demonstrate tomorrow evening with tractors in Syntagma Square, where the parliament building is located, to make their voices heard.
Farmers are expected to mobilise from various points to Athens tomorrow morning.
Farmers are demanding compensation for their damaged crops and a reduction in electricity tariffs.
On 14 February, farmers tried to close the border with North Macedonia to trucks for 2 hours with their tractors, but the police intervened and a brawl broke out.
