Extension of maternity allowance

Government spokesperson Yiannis Economou, in a post on Twitter on Thursday, referred to the extension of maternity allowance from six months to nine months in the private sector.

The measure aims to support families and equalise the private and public sector and can - as noted by Economou - be applied to the father as well.

"With a plan, the maternity allowance is extended in the private sector from six months to nine. The measure can also be applied to the father and aims to support the family and equalise the public and private sectors," he said.
