EODY issues a statement on the occasion of World Pandemic Preparedness Day
On 7 December 2020, one year after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Nations General Assembly declared 27 December as World Pandemic Preparedness Day.
At the end of 2019, the National Health Authority of Greece (EODY) issued a statement on the World Pandemic Preparedness Day on 27 December, which was declared to draw attention to the awareness and preparedness of both states, governments and societies against the COVID-19 pandemic and similar health threats that affected the world.
"Today, EODY encourages every individual, every organisation and every government to properly prepare citizens through education and awareness-raising activities to emphasise the importance of prevention, preparedness and cooperation against epidemics. By investing in preparedness and response readiness for future outbreaks, we will be able to respond quickly and adequately to any potential public health challenge."
