Drama MP Kyriazidis expelled from ND parliamentary group

Ruling New Democracy has expelled MP Dimitris Kyriazidis from its parliamentary group, following his insult of Zoe Konstantopoulou, leader of the Course of Freedom party, on the final day of a three-day no-confidence debate against the government on Friday.

While Konstantopoulou was addressing Parliament from the podium, Kyriazidis, who represents Drama and is a former police officer, allegedly shouted, “Go have a baby.”

His comments were roundly condemned in the chamber.

The party’s ethics committee, which met late Friday, unanimously decided to expel Kyriakdis from the parliamentary group for his “anti-parliamentary and anti-collegial behavior” at the recommendation of party leader and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The expulsion leaves New Democracy with 155 MPs in the 300-seat Parliament.
