The Ministry of National Defense responded to Xanthi SYRIZA MP Hüseyin Zeybek's question on the "Pomak" (Pomakos) option, which is included in the religion section of the registration form filled out by those who join the military and has caused reactions.

"THEY WILL BEGIN WORKING TO REMOVE THE WORD POMAK FROM THE FORM."
Xanthi SYRIZA MP Hüseyin Zeybek, who brought the incident to the agenda and submitted a parliamentary question to the Ministry of Defense, said: "Depending on the year of birth, our question regarding the inclusion of the word 'Pomak' in the religion option in the registration form for the military information of the youth received an answer from the Minister of National Defense. This option has been in existence since 1986 and the word 'Pomak' was written by 19 people in the declaration of religion when the registration form was filled in manually, and after the document was transferred to the digital system, the word Pomak was added to the form in the digital environment. In short, 19 people out of 6 million military candidates who filled out the form since 1986 preferred the Pomak option as a religion. Stating that this does not make any sense anymore, the Minister stated that they will be started to work on removing the word 'Pomak' from the religion option in the registration form.
