Daylight saving time 2025: When to set the clocks forward

In March, clocks will need to be set forward by one hour as daylight saving time comes into effect. This change will take place on the last Sunday of March, which this year falls on March 30. At 3:00 AM, clocks will be adjusted to 4:00 AM, as is the annual practice.
Daylight saving time will remain in effect until Sunday, October 26, 2025.
The Debate Over Daylight Saving Time
The practice of changing the clocks for daylight saving time has sparked intense discussions within the European Union in recent years. The debate gained momentum in 2018 when the European Commission proposed abolishing the time change following a public consultation in which 84% of Europeans supported either permanent daylight saving time or standard time. However, due to a lack of consensus among member states on which time should be adopted, the issue remains unresolved.
Arguments in favor of abolishing the time change include health concerns, such as sleep disturbances and disruptions to daily routines. Advocates also argue that maintaining a fixed time year-round would improve well-being and could have environmental and energy-saving benefits. Conversely, some believe that daylight saving time provides more evening daylight, which enhances quality of life and recreational activities, particularly during the summer months.
Discussions on the matter were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other political priorities. As a result, EU countries will continue changing their clocks twice a year until further notice.
