Countdown to Christmas Holiday begins in Greece: When is the last day of school?

Students in primary and secondary schools across Greece are gearing up for the upcoming Christmas break, which will last nearly two weeks. Schools are scheduled to reopen on 8 January 2026.

With about a month left until the Christmas season—known locally as the Birth of Jesus holiday—parents and teachers are looking to finalize their plans for the period. According to the official calendar released by the Ministry of Education, this year’s holiday schedule will follow the usual pattern.

The final day of classes for both primary and secondary schools is set for Tuesday, 23 December. After the break, students will return to their classrooms on Thursday, 8 January 2026.

The holiday period provides families with ample flexibility to plan short trips or activities during the winter season.
