Citizen Protection Min Chrisochoidis: Domestic violence bureaus in every Greek region

Citizen Protection Minister Michalis Chrisochoidis on Tuesday announced that special bureaus to handle domestic violence cases will be established in every Greek region, in an interview with SKAI TV .
The minister said that there are currently 18 domestic violence bureaus throughout Greece, and that this number will become 63 by the end of the month. He also pointed out that there is already a safe house operating in every Greek region, which can host victims of domestic violence and is supervised by the police.
"There have always been incidents of domestic violence but they happened behind closed doors," he said, adding that the difference with the past is that "now they are revealed because the victims are speaking up and trust in the police force, which saves lives every night".
The minister also referred to the panic button for abuse victims, noting this has been fully operating in every part of Greece since Monday and is available for every adult victim of domestic violence.
