Some incidents broke out between college students and police at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier at Syntagma Square on Thursday afternoon, during a rally against a draft law on private universities.

The students clashed with police, who repelled them with their shields and made limited use of chemicals. The tension deescalated quickly and the students departed.

According to police, the traffic restrictions imposed for the rally were lifted and circulation has been restored on central Athens roads.
