The Alexandroupolis Peace Committee condemned Greece's "support for the imperialist plans and wars of the USA, NATO and the European Union (EU)".

The Alexandroupoli Peace Committee issued a statement regarding the arrival of the US Navy's transport ship "Leroy A. Mendonca" to the Greek port of Alexandroupoli.

In the statement, it was pointed out that the Greek government increased NATO missions from the Black Sea to the Red Sea, and it was emphasised that Greece made arrangements to strengthen NATO in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean.

"We strongly condemn Greece's continued role in the imperialist plans and wars of the US, NATO and the EU. This is a role that has nothing to do with the security and defence of our country, but rather exposes our country and the region in general and in particular to serious risks."

The statement also referred to the attacks in Gaza and demanded an end to Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories.

On the other hand, US Ambassador to Athens George Tsunis, speaking at the second Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Forum held in Alexandroupoli this year, announced that Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet with US President Joe Biden in Washington on 4 April.
