Greece has battled 52 forest fires in the past 24 hours, with authorities swiftly containing 46 of them at their outset. Firefighters are currently tackling six remaining blazes across the country.

Authorities have apprehended an individual in Stimaga, Corinth, suspected of deliberately starting fires on agricultural lands in the area. The suspect is currently in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Corinth District Prosecutor this Friday.

The fires in Thermi and Kea island posed particularly challenging conditions for firefighters.
Sources from Civil Protection in Thermi reported this as the third fire in recent days in the same area. A firefighter was hospitalized due to respiratory issues and was transferred to Military Hospital 424 with assistance from the Hellenic Police.

On Kea Island, a fire broke out at 13:54 in low vegetation and rapidly intensified due to adverse conditions. Firefighters have since brought the blaze under control.
