SYRIZA: Eurostat data refutes Mitsotakis' narrative

Main opposition SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance said on Wednesday that Eurostat data refutes "Mitsotakis' narrative".

In an announcement, the main opposition party stated: "The Eurostat data clearly shows how much closer the New Democracy government is taking the country to Europe: Greece, with 26%, is in the fourth worst position in Europe in terms of the percentage of citizens at the risk of poverty or social exclusion. It manages to pass only Romania, Bulgaria and (marginally) Spain. It added that 'the evidence is clear', namely that 'one in four people in Greece face at least one of the following three risks: poverty, severe material and social deprivation, living in a very low employment-intensity household."

SYRIZA also stated that "the data of the European Statistical Service prove something else: the neglect of specific regions, such as Western Greece (with 35.2% of the population at risk of poverty), Western Macedonia (32.7%), but also Eastern Macedonia and Thrace (31.9%).
