Protesters rally in Rome against Gaza genocide
Chanting slogans such as “Stop the Israeli terror,” “Stop the genocide,” and “Free Gaza, Free Palestine,” protesters carried Palestinian flags and signs condemning Israel’s military operations. The rally was part of a broader wave of solidarity events across Europe in support of the Palestinian people.
In Milan, a similar protest took place in the city’s central Piazza Duomo, where demonstrators waved flags and called for an end to the violence in the Gaza Strip.
Since October 2023, Israel has conducted a large-scale military campaign in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 55,400 Palestinians—many of them women and children—according to health authorities in the enclave.
The protests come amid heightened international legal scrutiny. In November, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, citing alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza. Israel is also currently facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
Demonstrators in Rome called for an immediate ceasefire and greater international pressure to end what they described as crimes against humanity in the besieged Palestinian territory.
