Who Is eligible for up to €10,000 to settle in Evros?
Families wishing to relocate to the municipalities of Soufli, Orestiada, and Didymoteicho can receive financial aid of up to €10,000 as part of a government program aimed at boosting the population and economic revitalization of the Evros region.
Financial Aid Breakdown
The subsidy is paid in two equal installments and is structured as follows:
- €8,000 for those settling in villages with a population of up to 500 residents (based on the latest census).
- €6,000 for those settling in villages with over 500 residents.
Additionally, the amount increases by €1,000 per minor child, with a maximum limit of €10,000 per household.
The first installment is paid upon approval of the application, and the second installment is granted after one year of permanent residency in the relocation municipalities.

This initiative is part of a broader €8 million program designed to support:
- Demographic growth,
- Economic development, and
- Structural revitalization of Evros.
Who Can Apply?
The "Demographic Development Program" targets single-person and multi-person households willing to permanently relocate to Soufli, Didymoteicho, or Orestiada. Eligible applicants must move their primary residence and center of daily activities from municipalities designated in a joint ministerial decision by the Ministries of:
- National Economy & Finance
- Interior
- Development
- Labor & Social Security
- Social Cohesion & Family
- Digital Governance
This measure is a strategic effort to strengthen local communities and counter population decline in the border region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.
