Shops open on Sunday

With expectations of a double-digit increase in turnover from the commercial world and an enhanced buying mood of the consumer public, November's biggest trade festival has begun.

Already from Friday, November 24 (Black Friday), shopping stores are in a battle position with discount offers reaching up to 70% and consumers looking for cost-effective, smart and safe shopping.

On Sunday 26 November, stores will be open across the country from 11am to 8pm while the peak of the offers is expected on Monday 27 November (Cyber Monday), when the shopping traffic will almost exclusively shift to digital stores. Technology products are at the peak of the offers, with electrical and electronics chains leading the promotions by offering consumers, among other things, flexible payment solutions. Black Friday discounts are being offered by all the major household appliance chains, cosmetics companies, sports goods, furniture, household goods, footwear, seasonal clothing and supermarkets, among others.

At the same time, market checks are being intensified by the Ministry of Development to ensure that the offers for consumers are genuine. In fact, the minister, Costas Skrekas attended a workshop last Thursday on Discounts? Offers? Get it Right! Informing Business, Protecting Consumers, and referred to the importance that the inspection services attach to ensuring that offers and discounts are real for the benefit of the consumer. Especially for Black Friday, he stressed that thousands of products have been priced in the previous period, there will be cross-checking of data on the discounts advertised by businesses and, if necessary, fines will be imposed as planned.
