The market interprets the sale of Praktiker Hellas by the Fairfax investment fund to the Romanian Paval Holding, owner of the DIY chain Dedeman, established in the neighboring country, as a development that was considered merely a matter of time.
As sources with knowledge of the process note to Kathimerini, the acquisition of Praktiker in 2014 for 21 million euros was never part of the strategic planning of Prem Vaca’s Canadian group, but was a purely financial investment from the beginning.
This, as the same sources claim, is also reflected in the price attained, which, although not officially announced, is characterized as satisfactory, bringing Fairfax significant surplus value.
