Inflation stands at 2.5% in May, ELSTAT says

Greece's rate of inflation accelerated significantly in May, as it increased by 2.5%, from 2% in April and compared to an increase of 2.4% in May 2024, according to Hellenic Statistical Authority ELSTAT.

Revaluations were recorded in food, as well as in services and energy. The following stand out: Fruit (13.2%), Coffee- cocoa- tea (12.3%), House rentals (10.9%), Electricity (18%), Natural gas (11.1%), Clothing- footwear (6.6%), Holiday packages (8.5%), Health insurance premiums (7%), Restaurants- confectioneries- cafes- canteens (6.8%) and Hotels- motels- inns (5.5%).
On the other hand, the large drop in the price of olive oil (34.4%) continued.
