Greece’s inflation rate slowed significantly to 1.9% last month, compared with 2.9% in August and 2.9% in September 2024, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Thursday.

This is primarily due to the decrease in energy prices (e.g. electricity -3.7% and natural gas -10.2%), but also in some food products (e.g. olive oil -37.1%).
However, the price increases in coffee (19.8%), chocolate (22.2%), meat (8.4%), fish (6.2%), clothing and footwear (5.2%), housing rent (9.9%), passenger transport by air (12.6%), package holidays (6.7%), and health insurance premiums (7%) stand out.
In a monthly comparison, there are new price increases in beef (2%), lamb and goat (2.8%), fresh vegetables (2.1%) and housing rents (0.5%).
