The fixed taxi fare between Athens airport and the city center will increase by €10 to €50 under a new pricing schedule agreed between taxi representatives and the Infrastructure and Transport Ministry.

The new fares are expected to take effect once they are published in the Government Gazette in the coming days.

Under the new schedule, the night fare to and from Athens airport, which applies from midnight to 5 am, will rise from €55 to €65.

New fixed fares will also apply to journeys between central Thessaloniki and the city’s airport. The daytime fare will increase from €25 to €28, while the nighttime fare will rise from €35 to €38.

At the same time, the waiting-time charge will increase by €5, to €20 per hour.

The Attica Taxi Drivers’ Union (SATA) said the new pricing policy followed “persistent pressure” from the group.

The Panhellenic Taxi Federation, however, said the new fares offered no real benefits to taxi drivers outside Greece’s two main cities.
