€54,000 in penalties for fuel price cap breaches

The penalties come after coordinated inspections conducted over the past three weeks in several regions, including Crete, Aitoloakarnania, Magnesia, Thessaloniki, and Trikala. The inspections were part of intensified efforts to enforce the government’s fuel price cap.

Officials found that three stations in Aitoloakarnania and six in Thessaloniki had exceeded the maximum permitted prices for both unleaded gasoline and diesel. In addition, some stations were found to have failed to properly submit required data to the Fuel Price Observatory, breaching regulatory obligations.

All nine stations will face administrative fines as a result of the violations.

The Authority said it will continue carrying out systematic and targeted inspections nationwide, stressing a zero-tolerance approach toward practices deemed to involve unfair profiteering.
