Greece’s Digital Work Card system will be fully implemented across four additional sectors starting November 3, 2025 — including wholesale trade, energy, financial services, and administrative and support activities in tourism.

The expansion, announced by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, forms part of the government’s broader plan to apply the system across the entire private sector. The initiative aims to safeguard workers’ rights, ensure fair competition, and enhance transparency in labour inspections.

Speaking to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Labour and Social Affairs Minister Niki Kerameus said the Digital Work Card “ensures that every hour worked is recorded and paid,” adding that the measure now covers 1.85 million employees and 280,000 businesses.

Kerameus noted that recorded overtime has risen by 3.5 million hours, a clear sign of the system’s success in reducing undeclared and underreported work. “Employees are being properly paid, and compliant employers are protected from unfair competition,” she said.
