Digital portal for filing of 2025 income tax is now open; deadline for filing is July 15
The application to file individuals' income tax for 2025 opened officially on Monday (March 16) at the Independent Authority for Public Revenue's digital portal myAADE. The last day to file is Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
All recent legislation regulations and new electronic functions have been incorporated in the tax schedules E1, E2, and E3.
Some of the noteworthy changes are as follows:
- Income tax returns for 2025, filed mostly by wage earners and pensioners, have been prefilled based on AADE data. These relate to 1,553,123 individual taxpayers, who are expected to review the numbers for any mistakes. Their tax returns will be automatically filed on April 16, 2026. If changes are necessary, taxpayers must file their initial return by April 15, or file an amended one from April 17 to July 15, without being fined.
- Taxpayers must pay their owed taxes in 8 monthly instalments, with the first one paid by Friday, July 31 and the remainder up to the last business day of the next 7 months.
- Tax discounts for paying the entire tax owed until July 31, 2026 are as follows:
4% off if filed by April 30, 3% if filed by June 15, and 2% if filed by July 15.
- Improved tax exemptions are provided for renters on long-term contracts (at least 3 years), with signing date on or after November 11, 2025 for homes of up to 120 square meters. Also, for specific groups of civil servants (e.g. medical staff and teachers in the public sector, as well as members of the Armed Forces and Security Forces) who sign a six-month contract at minimum.
- Great reduction in annual proof of living expenses (tekmiria diaviosis) on homes and passenger cars.
