The Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has carried out more than 1,300 people-centered development projects in North Macedonia over the past two decades, TİKA President Abdullah Eren said.

Speaking in Skopje during events marking the 20th anniversary of TİKA’s local coordination office, Eren said the projects, launched since 2005, have benefited all communities in the country, including Macedonian, Albanian, Turkish, and other ethnic groups. The initiatives have focused mainly on education, health, agriculture, and rural development.

Eren noted that 15 Ottoman-era monuments have also been restored, highlighting the importance of preserving North Macedonia’s cultural diversity. He added that TİKA’s education projects alone have directly reached around 150,000 students.

Emphasizing Turkiye’s role as a stabilizing partner in the Balkans, Eren said TİKA designs its assistance based on local needs and national development priorities, with a demand-driven and results-oriented approach.

TİKA currently operates 63 coordination offices in 61 countries and carries out projects in more than 150 countries worldwide.
