President of North Macedonia thanks TİKA for its support
The President of North Macedonia, Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, expressed her gratitude to the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) for its continued support to her country.
TİKA renovated and equipped the Public Scientific Institution Ohrid Hydrobiological Institute in the city of Ohrid and also donated a vehicle to the institution. A ceremony held at the institute was attended by President Siljanovska-Davkova, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Skopje Fatih Ulusoy, TİKA President Abdullah Eren, Türkiye’s Honorary Consul in Ohrid Abdurrahim Bayraktar, and officials from the Municipality of Ohrid.
“This support shows that science and ethics are inseparable”
Speaking at the ceremony, President Siljanovska-Davkova stated that she was pleased with the completion of the project and thanked TİKA for its contributions to North Macedonia.
“This support demonstrates and proves that science and ethics are inseparable. I consider TİKA’s initiative to be an ethical step,” she said.

Ambassador Fatih Ulusoy noted that the project, carried out in line with President Siljanovska-Davkova’s guidance, would make a significant contribution to efforts aimed at protecting the country’s natural heritage, particularly Lake Ohrid.
TİKA President Abdullah Eren emphasized that Lake Ohrid is among the oldest lakes in Europe, adding, “I would like to thank President Siljanovska-Davkova for including TİKA as a partner in such an important project focused on the preservation of this unique site.”
Highlighting TİKA’s extensive work in the country, Eren stated that more than 1,300 projects have been implemented across North Macedonia. “From education and healthcare to livestock development and strengthening administrative infrastructure, we have carried out projects that serve all cities and all communities in North Macedonia,” he said.
Orhideja Tasevska, Director of the Ohrid Hydrobiological Institute, also thanked TİKA for its support.
In addition, TİKA completed the construction and equipment of a health center in the Municipality of Plasnica, near Ohrid, further contributing to healthcare services in the region.
