With the modernization works carried out at the Pazarkule Border Gate, which opened from Edirne to Greece, the transactions accelerated, and the number of tourists coming to the city began to increase.

Within the framework of the modernization works carried out at Pazarkule Border Gate, the number of single platforms was increased to 6 platforms, 3 entrances and 3 exits.

The customs area, which was 4,300 square meters, was expanded to 22 thousand square meters. Thus, both transactions accelerated and the number of entries and exits increased.

With the approach of the summer season, the project, which was raised for the arrival season of expatriates, will provide great convenience to the expatriate citizens entering the country from Edirne.

The alternative project developed at Pazarkule Border Gate in order to avoid the troubles of expatriate citizens who enter the country from Edirne during the summer months to spend their summer vacation and annual leave in Türkiye while waiting in line at the Kapıkule Border Gate and to reduce the density there, also pleases the tourists.

Greek and Bulgarian tourists, who did not come to the city due to the intensity of the arrival season in the past years, will be able to go shopping easily either with tours or with their own vehicles after the arrangement.

This situation is expected to contribute to the city’s economy and tradesmen. Within the framework of the modernization works carried out at Pazarkule Border Gate, the passenger hall, X-Ray Office and KIM Directorate, Dog Training Building and Care Room, transformer building, cabins, luggage X-ray, PTS platforms and Mobile X-ray section is included.

Stating that they often come to Edirne from Greece through the Pazarkule Border Gate, Figen Tahsin said that the customs, which has a modern look after the work, is beautiful and the transactions are fast. Stating that they came to Edirne for treatment, sightseeing and shopping, Tahsin said, “We are coming to Edirne for a health check. While we are here, we will both eat liver and visit the Selimiye Mosque. We do not return without eating liver in Edirne.” Tiryaki Hanife, who stated that she came from the city of Komotini, stated that she loved and liked Edirne very much and said, “We came both to visit and to shop. Now is not the time to leave, transitions are nice for him, but this is not the case in the summer,” he said.
