FM Gerapetritis from Rome: Greece will always support Western Balkan integration

Greek Foreign Affairs Minister George Gerapetritis attended the EU ministerial meeting on the European Perspective of the Western Balkans on Monday.

The meeting in Rome was attended by the foreign ministers of the "Friends of the Western Balkans" group of the European Union (Greece, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Slovakia and the Czech Republic), as well as by the FMs of the six Western Balkan partners.

In statements to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA), Gerapetritis said, "The Friends of the Western Balkans are meeting in Rome today to discuss the path of Western Balkan countries toward the European family, a path that began in 2003 in Thessaloniki and continues.

"Greece is one of the countries supporting the speed-up so that the Western Balkan countries may have a better orientation, with respect to the EU acquis, with a society of values, with respect to democratic values and to the rule of law. Greece will always support the countries of the Western Balkans on the path to European integration, especially at a time when the challenges are multiple."
