Bulgaria announced that it will implement the infrastructure project for 5G internet connection along 300 kilometres of the Greece-Bulgaria highway.
The Bulgarian Ministry of Transport and Communications announced that 5G connectivity infrastructure will be built along the Trans-European Transport Corridor East/Eastern Mediterranean.
The project will be financed by the European Union's "Connecting Europe Facility" programme.
It was noted that € 3.36 million will be spent on the construction of 5G infrastructure along the Sofia border corridor up to the Bulgarian border with Serbia.
The second project (5G SEAGUL) is related to 5G connectivity along the Bulgaria-Greece cross-border transmission corridor.
According to the Bulgarian news agency BTA, the project will be implemented by a mixed team of experts from Bulgarian and Greek telephone companies.
The project aims to develop and upgrade 5G in the transport networks of the roads of Greece and Bulgaria to support connected and automated mobility services.
With the implementation of these projects, high-speed internet connection will be provided along 300 kilometres of motorway on the Greek side and 173 kilometres on the Bulgarian side.
The projects are expected to be completed within 3 years.
