Illinois mother accused of killing 2-year-old son she allegedly believed was the Antichrist

A 38-year-old woman in Illinois has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son, with prosecutors alleging that she believed the child was “the devil” and the “Antichrist.”

The case unfolded in Frankfort, Illinois, where the child was found unresponsive at home on Tuesday. He was taken to a hospital but later died.

Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the child’s death, which authorities have classified as a homicide.

According to prosecutors, Corie Walsh told authorities that she believed her son was “the devil” and the “Antichrist.”

Investigators are also examining comments Walsh allegedly made in a group messaging conversation just hours before the incident. According to prosecutors, she had discussed the case of Lindsay Clancy, a Massachusetts woman accused of killing her children.

Authorities are considering the connection as part of their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Illinois child’s death.

Other children who were reportedly in the home at the time of the incident were not harmed.

Walsh was taken into custody and faces a first-degree murder charge. Her initial court hearing is scheduled for September 8, 2026, as the legal proceedings continue.

The allegations against Walsh have not been proven in court, and she is presumed innocent unless found guilty.
