Turkey is eyeing success in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup, the country's basketball federation head said Friday.
Hidayet Turkoglu, chair of the Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF), made the remarks during a visit to Anadolu Agency's sports desk.
The former NBA player invited Turkish fans to China, where the tournament will be held from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15, to support their team.
Turkey will play friendly matches against Greece, Serbia and Italy in Athens before the World Cup.
The team will travel to China on August 21, 10 days before the tournament begins, he said.
Turkey will face the U.S., Czech Republic and Japan in World Cup Group E.
"We hope that we will reach the finals to meet the U.S. again, exactly like in 2010," he said.
