6.7 magnitude earthquake shakes Ecuador

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake occurred in the South American country of Ecuador. According to the first determinations, 4 people lost their lives in the earthquake and many people were injured. Some buildings were also destroyed in the earthquake.

At 12:12 am local time, 6 kilometers northeast of Balao city of Ecuador, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.7 occurred.

According to the information received from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake occurred at a depth of 65.7 kilometers.

Authorities stated that according to the first determinations, 4 people lost their lives and many injured in the earthquake.

On social media, it was stated that some buildings were destroyed in Cuenca, Machala, and Guayaquil.

According to BNO News, in a written statement from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, it was noted that there was no tsunami threat after the earthquake.

It was stated that the earthquake was also felt in the neighboring country Peru.
