Zeybek: "The Ministry left olive producers without support and help"

In his press release, Zeybek stated that last year, olive producers throughout Greece, and consequently the entire sector, suffered great losses due to unharvested olives due to the disease.
Zeybek stated that in his parliamentary question to the relevant ministry, the question of whether financial support would be given to olive producers for their losses was left unanswered.
The parliamentary question submitted to the relevant ministry by MP Hüseyin Zeybek, as the New Left Party's Agricultural Policy Officer in Parliament, is as follows:
"Last year, olive producers across Greece and the entire sector suffered huge losses due to unharvested olives due to the disease. The Greek government did not take any positive steps in this direction and did not pay compensation to the producers.
It has been 9 months since Mr Avgenakis announced that he was cooperating with other countries and would raise the issue at the summit in Brussels (03-09-2023).
Hüseyin Zeybek, MP of the New Left Party of Xanthi, in his reply to the parliamentary question submitted to the relevant ministry in his capacity as the Parliament's Agricultural Policy Officer, said that the last meeting on 29/04/2024 dealt with the issues of sustainability of primary production and competition and that the position of the European Common Agricultural Policy meeting was in favour of strengthening crisis and emergency response mechanisms by using common resources, whereas he left unanswered the question whether the registrations in the damaged areas have been completed and whether financial support will be given to the olive producers for their losses.
It is obvious that the Ministry does not stand behind its promises to olive producers as in many other issues, leaving the sector unsupported and helpless, and will surely receive the necessary response from the farmers in the upcoming elections."
