Xanthi Turkish Union Meets with ECtHR’ Office of Execution

Ozan Ahmetoğlu, Head of the Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB), and İlker Çavuşoğlu, one of the legal advisors of the ITB, met with the European Court of Human Rights’ Execution Office.

Ozan Ahmetoğlu, President of the Xanthi Turkish Union (ITB), and İlker Çavuşoğlu, one of the legal advisors of the İTB, met online with Nikos Sitaropoulos, Bojana Nikolin and Grigoris Avdikos from the European Court of Human Rights’ Execution Office.

The latest developments regarding the ITB's fight for rights were conveyed during the meeting. Ahmetoğlu and Cavuşoğlu provided information about the investigation launched by the authorities for the ITB's march held in June 2021, as well as expressed demands of the association to re-establish its legal status by implementing the ECtHR decisions. During the meeting, it was stated that the ECtHR's decision regarding the ITB is expected to be fully and completely implemented and that necessary steps must be taken for this. The victimization and disappointment caused by Greece's failure to implement the ECtHR decisions for 14 years was once again expressed.

It was also reminded that the ongoing cases of the Cultural Association of Turkish Women in Rodophi and the Meriç Minority Youth Association are expected to be concluded at the Court of Cassation.
