Turkish Minority youth met in İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union
Members of the Youth Branch of the Western Thrace Minority Southern Meriç (Evros) Education and Culture Association visited the Xanthi Turkish Union and met with the ITB Youth Branch.
At the invitation of the ITB Youth Branch, Young people from the Meriç (Evros) region went to İskeçe (Xanthi) and met with their friends.
Young people from two different regions of the Western Thrace Turkish Minority met at the İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union.
Regarding the issue, the following statement made by the Xanthi Turkish Union:
“Due to the fact that there are fewer Turks in the Dedeağaç (Alexandroupoli) region, the members of the İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union Youth Branch appreciated the efforts of their young friends, listening to the work of the young people who preserve their national values despite all limited opportunities.
After the conversation at the ITB club, the heads of the Youth Branch presented each other gifts.
After the visit of the İskeçe (Xanthi) Turkish Union and the meeting there, the managers of the Youth Branch of the ITB Union visited the old town.
Young people visited Arenmahalle of the old town, the historical places of İskeçe (Xanthi), the forest and the area where the Xanthi River is located. Young people had the opportunity to take lots of photos.
The young guests, who were informed about the historical places of Xanthi, also exchanged views on joint activities that could be held in the future.
Young people from two different regions of Western Thrace, who came together for the first time, expressed their desire to increase such activities.”
