Prof. Dr. Hakkı Kaya has announced that Turkish doctors are ready to provide voluntary healthcare services to the Turkish minority living in Western Thrace.

Following a recent health cooperation agreement signed between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Athens Medical Association, Turkish doctors in Çanakkale have proposed a reciprocal initiative to support the Turkish minority in Western Thrace.

As part of the agreement, Greek citizens living in Bozcaada and Gökçeada have been granted voluntary healthcare services, which was hailed as a significant contribution to Hellenism. In response, Prof. Dr. Hakkı Kaya, a faculty member of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) Faculty of Medicine, Department of Cardiology, emphasized their readiness to provide medical support to their fellow Turks in Western Thrace.

According to Canakkaledemokrat.com, Prof. Dr. Kaya stated:
"Based on neighborly relations, mutual goodwill, and equal rights, supporting our kin in Western Thrace in the field of healthcare is both a humanitarian and professional responsibility for us."

This initiative by Turkish doctors is seen as an important step toward fostering mutual solidarity and upholding the principles of equality between the two communities.
